I like to think of myself as an honest, caring, sensitive, passionately curious, fiercely loyal, cautiously optimistic, mostly open-minded, emotionally intelligent and self-insightful yet unequivocally conflicted quasi-misanthropic citizen-of-the-world with a well-developed, albeit inappropriate at times, sense of humour (my most valued daily coping-mechanism for life which I also deftly wield for the purpose of challenging the established norms and pushing for progressive social change) from a bi-cultural background who hopes to improve the world and strives to understand others from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds with an unfortunate penchant for run-on sentences bordering on obsession! I believe that parenting and teaching/mentoring have the greatest and most lasting long-term effects on human civilization yet I find them to be grossly under-appreciated in most western-style capitalistic democracies. Education is obviously the most powerful tool we have for improving our lives and creating meaningful social change in this world and therefore should be valued accordingly. Some of my many artistic interests include music and film of all genres, museums, zoos, and all live performances including theatre, music, opera, stand-up-comedy, etc. I also love most sports especially watching baseball, skating, skiing, canoeing/ kayaking and river rafting, hiking, camping, mountain climbing, wilderness trips, and just getting out and enjoying nature. I am most passionate about travelling the world and learning about other cultures, religions, foods, and languages. In school my favorite subjects were history, geography, literature, psychology, sociology, biology, and philosophy. I also studied auto mechanics and related fields and am interested in electronics, I.T., and learning about new technologies. I enjoy learning how things work but I especially enjoy teaching. I taught English in Europe while living there for two years. I also have extensive experience in professional sales and it seems that it has unwittingly become my life's vocation. Of course, my favorite and most important job is that of being a father which has changed my life in countless and unimaginable ways and has made me a better person and a more productive member of society in nearly every respect.
